Jul 17,  · Like the Pat Metheny Group records also released on Geffen, Secret Story sounds absolutely fantastic, whether in digital or on the very rare and expensive vinyl edition. It has a typically pre-grunge late ‘80s/early ‘90s sound with quite a bit of reverb, but the reverb is kept well in hand and never allowed to engulf the instrumentation.

Secret Story is among the more provocative recordings in Pat Metheny's oeuvre. "Antonia" is a shorter, but extremely nostalgic piece, of soothing beauty, "Cathedral In a Suitcase" a brilliant evocation and summary of the general moods that the album as a whole creates. "Secret Story", despite it's excessiveness, is a great treat, an album that a Pat Metheny fan will love dearly, for sure/5(11).

The original Secret Story has been one of my favourite albums since it was released back in Hearing a while back that it was going to be included in the reissues of remastered Pat Metheny titles I must admit to wondering whether it would be worth buying - would the sound be that much better than the original, which already sounds pretty good?/5().
